There’s a Teaser Trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens out now! Take a look at it here and see what hints about the full film you can pick up:
This is the first proper glimpse of J.J. Abrams first attempt at stepping into George Lucas’s beardy shoes. It’s branded as a teaser however has quite a lot in it to be analysed and that’s precisely what I’m here to do! What can we learn from the new trailer?
4. There’s a lot of Tatooine in it

The teaser starts with shots of the Skywalker families home planet. This sand shit hole is a huge part of the Star Wars universe. Will we see another Skywalker? Maybe Luke has been spreading his midichlorians around since he discovered the object of his affection was his sister? Tatooine feels like home to us Star Wars fans so it’s nice seeing it again.
3. There are Stormtroopers and TIE Fighters

Could the old empire have survived the death of its leaders at the end of Return of the Jedi? We’re those Ewoks premature in their partying and fireworks. What we do see is that John Boyega plays a Stormtroopers who appears to be stuck on Tatooine. Hopefully he doesn’t have to win a pod race to gain his freedom.
2. There’s a cool new bad guy

The trailer shows us a mysterious dark cloaked figure in a forest. Presumably this is a villain. This is confirmed when he lights up his red lightsaber which contains a lame addition in the forum of little guards on the handle. No doubt the character’s name with be ‘Darth’ something or other.
1. The Millennium Falcon still kicks ass

Yes it’s still the old hunk of junk from the original trilogy but that’s why we love it. This may be our introduction to old Han Solo and it seems that him and old Chewbacca still have the moves. Watch how it outmaneuvers those TIE Fighters.
It’s a great trailer however another film with an amazing trailer was called ‘The Phantom Menace’ and we know how that turned out (I still maintain it’s an underrated movie though). The appearance of Stormtroopers and TIE fighters suggests that maybe the evil empire is still operational although how Abrams and Co will work this into the story is still a mystery. There’s just the right amount of fan service and action to raise the excitement of Star Wars fans but I’m still to be convinced that it can live up to the original trilogy.
What do you guys think of this first teaser trailer? Are you more or less excited about Episode 7? Let me know in the comments below.
Ugh! This trailer had too much teasing. I wanted a glimpse of the veteran cast. Sigh. I can’t believe I have to wait one whole year. Good grief, that’s a long time.

Yeah it is a long time! I really hope they don’t embarrass the old characters. Han Solo was cool the way he was, not sure i want to see an old him.

Now I’m no Star Wars aficionado, but finally this trailer seems kinda all over the place – it was trying to be both dark and menacing and wholesomly fun, which kinda jarred for me.
I didn’t like the new light sabre.

I heard that the new lightsaber is actually a super old lightsaber from a much older time of war between Jedi and Sith, that’s why it looks more like a medieval broad sword than a Katana.

There’s a new Star Wars movie coming out?! No one tells me anything!!!!!
Supposedly that’s not Tatooine. And yada yada… Lots of other stuff the geeks have analyzed the crap out of that I don’t feel like getting into here. Because I’m not a geek. (I’m a dork) 😉

I do wish the trailer had revealed a LITTLE bit more…but I guess they call it a teaser for a reason. The Millennium Falcon looks as kickass as ever, and I’m pretty interested in seeing who this villain is…Also, yes, John Boyega is TOTALLY a black Matt Damon.

This is a franchise that I really need to catch up on. I still enjoyed the trailer and got annoyed by the reaction that people have had to a black dude getting a major role! The hostility is ridiculous!
